1. Division Field Hockey: Black Swans – Gentofte
Monday the 12th of June Gentoftes mens team played the last game of the season in a windy away game against Copenhagen Black Swans.
A strong core of 8 experienced players shoved from the start how team play have improved during the last half year. After little more than 5 minutes 5 goals had been scored after good play and clinical finishing, a trait which have lacked through most of the season. The game then slowed down a bit to conserve some stamina, as the Gentofte players lacked substitutes. Halfway through the first half a heavy rain shower covered the pitch and players in ice cold rain water. Shortly before the break Black Swans managed to put the ball under Gentofte keeper Asger. He tripped in the running out and landed flat on his stomach making the rebound an easy pickup for experienced midfielder Will.
By breaktime Gentofte was up with 8-1 and confidence was high even though the body temperature was low. However an unfocused start and bad positioning lead to two initial goals by the Black Swans. Closing the gap to 8-3 before Gentofte found the way to the goal again. The rest of second half continued as first half had ended, with the ball primarily in Gentofte possesion.
The match ended 14-3, with 3 Gentofte players scoring 3 or more goal, (Jens 4, Faisal 3, Rasmus 3).
Jens Verner won the honor of being Dick of the day, as well as man of the match for stealing a perfect backline goal from Faisal Amin.
